FAKE FLOWERS DON'T SMELL | OCTOBER 2011

A major issue with the American church today is the contentment people have with their current state of where they are and what they have. No genuine hunger for a deeper experience with God exists.  Just like Goliath was able to stop the army of God from progressing, the enemy desires to do that to every one of us today.  He wants to stop us from growing in the knowledge and grace of Christ.

It is very important to keep growing and moving forward and to not allow ourselves to be content with our spiritual state of being.  We have to hunger, we have to grow, and we have to move forward.  The key to not falling away is to keep growing.  When you are moving forward, you cannot slide backwards.

Fake flowers are a lot easier to maintain than real flowers, but they never change and they never grow and they do not give off the same smell as real flowers.  Their color will soon fade because there is no growth.  Let's not be content to know God on an elementary level, but rather desire to grow into the powerful and miraculous level of God.

One goal here is to not be satisfied with the here and now.  Maturity comes when you are able to consistently make right decisions; when you are no longer depending on the church, a pastor, or your father or mother to make you do the right thing, but when you are getting into the Word for yourself.  Maturity comes when you are able to examine the Word, see how it applies to your life, and finding out what it is that God expects of you.  It is easier to examine the lives of others under the light of the Word and not take a long, honest look at ourselves.  It can be painful to apply the Word to our own lives.  It is like the surgeon's knife cutting away the cancer of sin.

The Word of God has the power to save and deliver us.  When we live and do what the Word says, we have the supernatural power operating in our lives.  The Word carries authority from heaven with it.  We need to know the Word, do the Word, and live by it!
